John Frieda wanted to create a visually arresting social campaign to kick off a new product line of wash-in color products. A stop-motion concept was created, and I was tasked with figuring out how to bring it to life.

My team and I built a "wet set" in our studio, and we printed a shower tile backdrop which was lit from behind to sell the shower idea. A few other practical effects were employed to help sell the "blow dry" effect.

Meticulous planning was involved, as well as mocking up set ready pros to photograph to sell the stop motion effect.

My primary task on set was to interpret the client's vision and act as a technical director and director of photography, moving through an ambitious shot list with loads of moving parts.

I collaborate regularly with Tempur-Sealy agency partners to edit and animate a variety of ads for every brand in the Tempur-Sealy mattress and bed lineup. Most ads are for social and mobile, but occasionally broadcast and in-store ads make their way across my desk as well.

This video reel is a compilation of selected ads created for a Tempur-Pedic, Stearns & Foster and Sealy.

Totes and Barefoot Proximity came to me to help coordinate the many hilarious moving parts for this entertaining social media campaign shoot.

I was in charge of selecting and coordinating the video crew and preparing/managing the studio space, including overseeing the paint selection and application which had to be an exact match to the Totes brand blue. Pantone chips in hand, paint was matched and lighting was tweaked to get just the right hue and shade.

TaskWatch is an AI driven technology company that keeps frontline workers handsfree and connected to emerging business events. A timely response delivers improved security, enhanced customer experience and continuity in business operations.

In this series of videos, I oversaw creative choices and execution in the post-production process of the video campaign.

DePuy Synthes is a part of Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices and specializes in orthopedic and neurosurgery solutions.

I was paired with DePuy Synthes Design and Human Factors team members to help author and design a video and motion graphics piece that would serve as a "brand ethos" for DePuy Synthes. The goal of this video is twofold; to inspire and to make a declarative statement to J&J stakeholders about the power of design in innovative product and device development.

We follow a simple dot as it journeys through DePuy Synthes history, then transforms to reveal insight into the design philosophy and patient empathy employed by DePuy Synthes designers in the creative process.

P&G's agency for the Zevo brand tapped me to come on board as a spot producer, handling all aspects of on set production, including casting, wardrobe, hair & makeup, craft services and shoot day coordination.

My primary task on set was to act as the Gaffer, working closely with the Director of Photography to ensure that lighting setups were implemented effectively and efficiently.

I was brought on to help bring this fanciful Early Times Whiskey spot to life for the Japanese Market for Sazerac and Mills James.

Given the complexity of each setup, and the coordination needed between each take, attractive and exacting lighting was a MUST, so each take would match the previous. Beverage and glass packaging is notoriously tricky to light, even when it is a single shot, let alone several that have to seamlessly blend into each other.

I also took it upon myself to create three separate, six second social spots, adapting the original spot ending into a 1:1 shorter format. I digitally composited a different drink into each spot, and varied the logo to fit for each composition.

Our challenge was to develop an on-brand video spot and collaboratively develop a family of images and lockups to be used in advertising, POP and social/mobile campaigns. The target consumer was a young affluent couple that demanded the absolute best in everything they purchase, and the assets we created needed to reflect that.

Both video and photo were captured on the same shoot to maximize the project scope and keep everything on-brand and cohesive.

Digital/print ads and lockups were developed with collaborative creative direction between multiple agencies.

I served primarily as Director of Photography, Talent Director and Studio Coordinator for this shoot. I also photographed packaging and oversaw the digital product/packaging retouching in post.

Multiple actors were on set so we could capture imagery for a variety of video and still purposes.

Curel needed broadcast bumpers and social spots that presented their Rough Skin Rescue lotion to consumers in a shimmering and beautiful way.

My team and I cast talent, coordinated the studio and I acted as the talent coordinator, director of photography and camera operator.

I served as Director of Photography and Talent Director primarily for this shoot. I also oversaw the building of the physical shower set that was actually built in our studio to facilitate this shoot.

Everything you see on screen was shot 100% practically in camera.

I also served as the motion director for the animated Target ad that was created as a part of this campaign.

I collaborated with the Strive Partnership to create a video that captures their essence as a network of community resources dedicated to improving educational success for every child.

Centered around an inspirational quote from Muhammad Ali, the mission video emphasizes the emotional takeaway: everyday struggles and successes collectively shape our identity and place in the world.

People’s Liberty was a philanthropic lab that brought together civic-minded talent to address challenges and uncover opportunities to accelerate the positive transformation of Greater Cincinnati. People’s Liberty invested directly in individuals through funding and mentorship, creating a new, replicable model for grant-makers in other cities.

I was excited to be an integral part of the storytelling for this amazing focused group.

Impossible Foods needed to get the word out about a new plant-based product; Impossible Nuggets. I served as a Creative Director and Logistics Coordinator for this out-of-home new product activation.

Upon the release of Impossible Nuggets, we set up engaging taste tests in high-traffic areas where consumers could try Impossible's plant-based nuggets against traditional chicken nuggets. The result was curiosity and delight from consumers. These nationwide pop-ups crushed expectations, far exceeding Impossible's expectations in both engagement and sales.

Miller-Coors was refreshing can art, as well as launching some new product in the seltzer space, and they wanted make a splash with the new launch.

I served as a Creative Director and Designer on this OOH activation for Miller-Coors. They wanted to bring some new can graphics and drink SKUs to the consumer on their turf: A Cincinnati FC match. We collaboratively created animated graphics showcasing the packaging, and they played on video refrigerator screens at the match. It was a success for Miller-Coors, boosting awareness for new packaging and beverage options, and led consumers to increase purchase both at games and matches and at the store as well.

Cort Furniture wanted to create a series of images for use in emails and across social platforms that showcased the variety of styles of high-end office chairs that can regularly be found in their showrooms. I proposed a series of simple compositions where the chairs could stand out as the hero against bright eye-catching background colors.

I photographed a number of chairs in their showroom to serve as reference and prompted AI-driven software to create this imagery based on the style of chairs I supplied as reference.

From there, I retouched and formatted each image as needed.

Seat Hero is a washable automotive seat cover for use by the weekend warrior marathoner, mountain biker, dog lover, or really anyone that routinely gets dirty while out playing.

Our challenge was creating an on-brand spot that conveyed all of the functionality of this seat cover in a fun and engaging way. The following video spot is one that I directed through every part of the process; from initial idea, to writing, and executing. It was a triple gold Addy award winner, including Best of Show, at the 2018 American Advertising Awards.

HomeTeam Inspection Services is a nationally franchised home inspection service, and they wanted to create a package of assets comprised of video spots and print/digital ads and lock-ups for use at both the corporate and franchise level.

I collaborated with HomeTeam to create the brand-forward spots that highlight what sets HomeTeam apart from other home inspectors, and calls out the benefits of the HomeTeam digital app for real estate agents.

I managed and guided the entire development process, from concepting and script writing to location scouting and talent casting. Additionally, I served as Director and Director of Photography for the shoot.

Maintaining a consistent tone across video, photography and digital print was crucial. I worked closely with agency partners to ensure that the creative direction aligned with the overall look and feel of all collateral used within the HomeTeam franchise.

Progresso needed a series of short videos to use across their messaging and social networks. I led a creative team that came up with the concept of “SurREALLY GOOD SOUP” where we would take existing assets in the Progresso archives and give them new life with the help of AI. I pulled imagery and commercial spots from the Progresso archives, like the fantastic John Lithgow narrated commercial spot referenced here, and fed this imagery and video into AI software that helped me create the whimsical look.

I experimented with prompts and reference imagery to dial in the look and feel and then edited the output to conform to the correct format and time needed.

From there, I retouched and formatted each image as needed.

I was the Director of Photography and camera operator for food inserts and close-ups for this Bob Evans spot. My footage ended up in a variety of Bob Evans commercial spots for the "Broasted Chicken" broadcast ad campaign.

I joined the crew of the motion picture, "Old Man and the Gun" to shoot behind-the-scenes footage for HBO's "First Look" series. I served as the Director of Photography for the series on select days of BTS filming, lighting and filming interviews with numerous cast members and producers, as well as docu-style behind-the-scenes footage during and between takes. My work helped influence the overall tone of the piece.

I collaborated with the CincyMusic and Bonnaroo to create a fun and engaging festival experience film, capturing the magic of the Bonnaroo music festival.

I went into the trenches on this one, attending the festival with press pass and cameras in hand, capturing video and rapid fire still photos in sequence to tell a visually engaging story.

I then put all the pieces together in post-production - editing, coloring, layering music and adding effects to deliver the final video within one week of the festival wrap.

Ethicon, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, is a global leader in surgical solutions, developing innovative technologies to help address some of the most pressing health challenges of our time, such as metabolic disease, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

In this series of videos, I oversaw creative choices and execution in the post-production process of the video campaign.

This is a passion project that has lead me down an incredible path. My interest in this subject actually started about 30 years ago as a fun topic of conversation with my Father, who owned two 1969 Camaros in his life.  He and I simply wanted to find out some information about the factory where his cars were built.

I grew up in Tennessee, a long away from the factory that assembled the Camaro, but in a twist of fate, I now live in Cincinnati, right down the road from where the original General Motors site was located in Norwood, Ohio.

A chance discovery of a 2013 muscle car magazine announcing a 25 year reunion for former GM Norwood plant employees restored my interest in the subject and led me to meet several notable people associated with the plant where these incredible cars were produced.

Over the past decade since discovering that magazine article, I've been fortunate enough to gather over 30 interviews with former plant employees, record the tales of the owner of the very first Camaro ever produced, speak with numerous authors and historians about this historic plant and speak to the likes of Jay Leno and the late Burt Reynolds on camera.

What started as a fun nostalgic project has turned into hundreds of hours of research and information gathering that has provided the framework for an exciting look at the beginnings of one of most iconic car platforms of all time, the General Motors F Body. Through interviews with those that were there at the plant in it's heyday, as well as never-before-seen photo and video, we examine the topics of workers rights versus shareholder profits during one of the most dynamic times for automobile manufacturing ever to exist.

Cincinnati's Holocaust and Humanity Center chose me to help tell the story of the making of their new permanent exhibit at Cincinnati's historic Union Terminal. This new space is the only Holocaust museum in the world that has a positive physical connection to the Holocaust itself; it's the train station where Jewish refugees came to rebuild their lives following World War II.

The Holocaust Center wanted to tell the story of the monumental undertaking of creating an entire museum at the former train station.

I'm honored that my team and I were chosen to help tell this important story. I'm proud of the emotional impact that comes through in the tapestry of narration and visuals that our team captured for the film.

I worked with the National Barks to create a surreal landscape filled with lost loves and betrayal in this musical hallucination.

I worked with Los Angeles based beatmaster Ruckus Roboticus on the video for his single Take Me To A Disco.

This video earned a spot in regular rotation on MTVu by winning that channel's new and emerging artists video contest, The Freshman. It was one of the most viewed videos on MTVs website for the year of it's release.

Our challenge was to update the Folgers coffee brand, including its current logo that had been in use for over a decade, and identify opportunities for packaging improvement. Folgers aimed to refresh the overall look and feel of their brand, and I the physical packaging exploration and collaborated on the graphic design for the new Folgers coffee can and brand identity. I was selected as a Lead Designer due to my extensive experience in both industrial and graphic design. Working collaboratively with several designers, we created a new logo that features a simplified, bolder graphic than before, intended to reflect the bold flavor of Folgers coffee. We also created lid variations that inspired confidence with the consumer for freshness. Ultimately, the lid was kept a simple pop-off top, but the color was changed from gold to black for a bolder, more contrasty look.

My team worked collaboratively with the Folgers social team to develop imagery that could be used across social networks to show off the new look.

I developed branding assets and style guides for a startup video conferencing app and website called BlastMeeting.

In envisioning the brand, it was crucial to align the visual mission directives with the platform's functions and features. The conferencing platform supports full brand customization and seamless integration into the users' website and digital presence. Therefore, the brand needed to showcase multiple color and style variations, approachability, and ease of integration.

The resulting app and website can be experienced at BlastMeeting.com.

I was part of a team conceptualizing new desk organizer families for Staples. I generated sketches along with the design team, and helped guide form language to keep designs within categorized style groupings.

I led numerous concept presentations with the client and was given the responsibility to oversee turning chosen concepts into 3D CAD models for render and production purposes.

Sanford wanted to launch a new line of premium Expo dry erase markers and accessories that would fit a higher price point than the standard dry erase product segment.

I worked as a design team lead through the ideation process and managed the 3D team in digital and physical prototypes and renderings on this IDEA Gold award winning project.

I learned the joy of drawing and painting at a very young age. My grandmother was a talented award-winning painter and I was lucky enough to have her as a private instructor on more than a few occasions.

I also had the privilege of teaching Design Communications as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Cincinnati, where I developed a "Foundations of Rendering" presentation that became a key resource for students.

Today, my work combines physical media with digital techniques, and I’ve recently integrated AI image generation to experiment with composition and color. While my creative methods have evolved, the thrill of letting my imagination run free and creating something purely for fun remains unchanged.

I've worked as a design lead on numerous award-winning product and package designs in my career as an Industrial Designer. I try to bring elements of storytelling to my design process, focusing on specific user profiles and usage scenarios.

From sketching in 2D to modeling and rendering in 3D, I try to blend form and function as prescribed by the design objectives of the project.
