A variety of caddy accessories were explored that might give the existing marker lineup a more premium presence at the white board.
Our team began exploring marker barrel shapes, focusing initially on the general form, then refining the details as the project progressed.
Improved erasers were a key focus for Sanford, as this was a primary accessory for the markers themselves.
Overmolded grips were explored to help add a premium feel to the markers.
Foam models were cut to physically explore the shape of preferred the marker ideation sketches.
Sanford's Accent highlighters were also explored. i contributed meaningful ideas to the highlighter team from concepts that carried over from my dry-erase ideation.
The final barrel shape and cap style is seen here in the marker family rendering.
Once the preferred cap style was chosen, we studied different embossed patterns on the textured grip.
The integrated eraser tip was also a favorite in consumer testing.
Additional accessories that we designed made it into production alongside the premium markers.
I collaborated with the graphics team to have input on the updated premium hanging card design. I suggested the open window in the product blister so the consumer could feel the non-slip grip.
